For the past three decades, Colleen Bielitz has been transforming institutions through strategic initiatives, creative entrepreneurship, and visionary leadership. Considered by her peers as a disruptive innovator, she is a technology evangelist who has worked diligently to improve the learning experience for students of all ages with a primary focus on getting and keeping underrepresented populations into STEM education. She has been a founding member of science and technology incubators in Massachusetts and has been a passionate advocate for promoting social good.
Bielitz has worked extensively with colleges and universities in establishing strategic programming on ground and online. She was on the launch team for the first Yunus Social Business Centre in the United States, the creation of MASSDigI, a state-wide center, designated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, for entrepreneurship, academic cooperation and economic development across the state’s digital and video games ecosystem, and raised funds to create the Colleen C. Barrett Center for Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship while at Becker College. Currently Bielitz oversees Strategic Initiatives and Outreach for Southern Connecticut State University. Her latest initiatives center around the Blue Economy, Manufacturing 4.0 and AI. She has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences including the CT ACE Women’s Network, Worcester Women’s Leadership Conference, the STEM Higher Education Council National Leaders Summit, and the Online Learning Consortium.
Prior to Southern she has lead teams as a Senior Vice President of Strategy, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Chief Business Development Officer for Strategic Partnerships and Innovation and Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies. Bielitz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from West Chester University, a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Cabrini University, and her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University.
