Rocky Hill, Conn. – July 18, 2017 – CTNext, Connecticut’s go-to resource for entrepreneurial support, today announced that applications for the next Entrepreneur Innovation Award are now open. Connecticut-based small businesses with business or technology innovation projects can now apply through Friday, August 11th for a chance to win one of multiple $10,000 grand prize grants and smaller prizes of $2,000 each. The competition will be held on Thursday, September 14th in Hamden.
The EIAs are a competitive pitch program designed to help Connecticut’s promising early-stage companies develop their ideas and get products to market faster. Projects can include small-scale prototyping, preparatory work for research and development, performance testing, compliance testing, product or service development, innovation or technology audits, market research, customer development, engineering design, technology transfer, or licensing.
Just this past June, CTNext handed out $44,000 to five different growth stage companies, brining the total number of dollars awarded since 2014 to $588,000. Submissions are evaluated by an outside review committee, who select finalists to present a five-minute pitch to a panel of expert judges made up of CEOs, mentors, investment professionals and other distinguished members of the entrepreneurial community. Any Connecticut small business is eligible to apply through the online application.
The next EIA, which is open to the public and free to attend with registration, will be held at The Space in Hamden on Thursday September 14th.
